Vice-Chancellor Sets Up Committees

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ebenezer Oduro Owusu has set up four new committees to assist in discharging specific mandates on behalf of the University: Internal Revenue Committee; Committee to Develop a Policy on Drug Use; University of Ghana (UG) Museum Fund Raising Committee and a Committee to Develop a Feeding Policy for Staff on Admission at the University Hospital.

The Internal Revenue Committee chaired by Professor Godfred Bokpin, Acting Dean of Student Affairs has a mandate to consider, approve and manage rental revenue and receivables, as well as other fees. Other members of the Committee are Mr. Ernest Boakye, Deputy Director, PDMSD; Mr. Kwasi Odame, Head, Interim Finance Management Team; Dr. Ibrahim Bedi, Acting Director, Internal Audit Directorate; Dr. Olivia Anku-Tsede, Legal Counsel; Mr. Daniel Asamoah, Representative of Senior Staff; Mr. Gumah Zakaria; Representative of Junior Staff; Mr. Lucas Chigabatia, Chief Information Technology Officer and Mr. Joseph Oduro Nkansah, Senior Assistant Registrar, VC’s Office (Secretary). The committee is expected to submit bi-weekly progress reports to the Vice-Chancellor.

Rev. Prof. Patrick Ferdinand Ayeh-Kumi, Provost of the College of Health Sciences has been appointed as Chairman of the Committee with the responsibility of developing a drug use policy for the University of Ghana. Prof. Martin Oteng-Ababio, Department of Geography & Resource Development; Prof. George E. Armah, Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research; Dr. Christian Amenuveve, Director, UG Health Services and Mrs. Deborah Dadzie, Senior Pharmacist, UG Hospital are members of the Committee

In a related development, Rev. Prof. Patrick Ferdinand Ayeh-Kumi, has also been appointed to chair the Committee to develop a feeding policy for staff on admission at the University Hospital. Other members of the Committee are Dr. Ibrahim Bedi, Acting Director, Internal Audit Directorate; Dr. Christian Amenuveve, Director, UG Health Services; Mr. Jonathan Kabu, FUSSAG Representative, Mr. Gumah Zakaria, TEWU Representative and Mr. Eric Humphrey Gaisiey, Hospital Administrator (Secretary).

Professor Andrew Anthony Adjei has been appointed as Chairman of the UG Museum Fund Raising Committee with the responsibility of raising funds for the establishment of a state-of-the-art UG Museum where objects of historical, scientific, artistic or cultural nature and collections of high profile personalities of the University could be stored, conserved and exhibited to preserve the legacy and heritage of the University of Ghana. The following individual would serve on the Committee: Dr. Wazi Apoh, Co-Chair, Department of Archaeology and Heritage Studies; Mrs. Abena Osei-Poku, Barclays Bank Ghana; Mrs. Mansa Nettey, Stanchart Bank, Ghana; Mr. Richard Obeng Okrah, UG Alumni Association; Mr. Kwesi Yankey, UG Alumni Association; Mr. Alhassan Andani, Stanbic Bank Ghana; Prof. Robert Hinson, UG Business School; Dr. Kobi Mensah, UG Business School; Mr. Charles Kofinti, Director, PDMSD; Prof. H.N.A. Wellington, Department of Archaeology and Heritage Studies; Mr. Kingsley, Ofosu Ntiamoah, Ghana Musuem and Monuments Board and Ms. Adwoa Abrokwa, Alumni Relations Office.
