University of Ghana Trains Student Leaders

The Office of the Dean of Student Affairs, in collaboration with the Career and Counselling Centre and management of University of Ghana, has organised its annual leadership training seminars for the 2016/2017 Student Representative Council (SRC) executives, Junior Common Room (JCR) executives, as well as committee heads of the SRC General Assembly from 18th to 20th January 2017.

The primary focus of these annual seminars for student leaders of the University of Ghana is to provide leadership training. The topics were varied and included the Concept of Leadership; Negotiating with Advantage; Understanding the University System; Managing Problems and Challenges; Accountability and Audit Process; Communication for Effective Leadership; Regulations Governing Student Life on Campus; Student Leadership and Statutes of the University; Financial Regulations and Procedures; Governance Systems in the Halls of Residence.

The final day’s sessions, led by Ambassador James Aggrey-Orleans, were interactive.  Lessons learnt were expected to inspire and inform leadership, as well as improve leadership qualities.
