University of Ghana Commiserates with the La Traditional Council

A delegation from the University has called on the La Traditional Council to commiserate with them on the passing of the La Mantse, Nii Kpobi Tsuru III. The late La Mantse passed away in January 2019.

In a glowing tribute to the late La Mantse, Prof. Kwame Offei, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Academic and Student Affairs, who led the delegation, indicated that Nii Kpobi Tsuru III was a good friend of the University and was always present during University functions.  He eulogized Nii Kpobi Tsuru III as a peace loving statesman and experienced traditional leader, who had the development of youth at heart.  According to the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Nii always pursued in a diligent manner for qualified applicants from the La community to enrol at the University.  Prof. Offei finally assured the La Traditional Council of the University’s support during the final funeral rites, while sustaining the relationship that had been built by the late La Mantse.

Receiving the delegation, members of the Traditional Council expressed immense appreciation to the University for honouring the memory of the late La Mantse.

The Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Registrar later on behalf of the delegation, signed the Book of Condolence. 

Other members of the delegation were Mrs. Mercy Haizel-Ashia, Registrar, Prof. Michael Tagoe, Acting Provost, College of Education, Prof. Kofi Agyekum, Acting Dean, School of Performing Arts, Mrs. Stella A. Amoa, Director of Public Affairs, Dr. Obodai Torto, Research Fellow, Institute of African Studies, Mrs. Mavis Osafo Adu and Mrs. Joana Omaboe, Assistant Registrars, Public Affairs.

The University donated some items to the Traditional Council to aid in receiving guests who will call on them prior to the burial of the late La Mantse.
