UG Staff Village Residents Association Leaders Call On Vice-Chancellor

Prof. Ernest Aryeetey making a point to representatives of STAVRA

Five Executive members of University of Ghana Staff Village Residents Association (STAVRA), have called on the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ernest Aryeetey. The purpose of the visit was to discuss a number of pressing issues affecting residents of Staff Village and the Association.

Some of the issues discussed were on renovations of pavements and road networks, refurbishment of the Staff Village Crèche and Nursery, construction of speed ramps on the roundabout at the University main entrance, resettlement of squatters at the Staff Village, construction of new residential houses and refurbishment of the STAVRA office.

Prof. Ernest Aryeetey, speaking on the issues presented to him, enumerated a number of on-going renovation works throughout the University. He noted that the construction of new roads and maintenance of other facilities would not only be at the main campus and academic areas, but also extended to include staff residences.

He noted that while the University of Ghana places great importance on staff welfare, and commits resources to maintain buildings, fixing electrical faults and water problems, staff and residents should equally show appreciation by maintaining the facilities. He assured the representatives of STAVRA that the University Management would look into their petition and address them accordingly.

The STAVRA executive who called on the VC were Mrs. Sophia Dapaah Mantey, Chairperson of the Association, Mr. Elvis Owusu Appiah, Vice-Chairman, Mr. Desmond Tweneboanah, Secretary, Mr. Maxwell Quartey, Treasurer, and Mr. Isaac Agyei Dapaah, Organizer. Also present was the Assistant Registrar at the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, Ms. Lorretta Otinkorang.
