Turkish Ambassador pays Courtesy Call on Vice-Chancellor

The Turkish Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Nesrin Bayazit has called on Vice- Chancellor, Prof. Ernest Aryeetey. The purpose of the visit was to familiarize herself with the tertiary education system in Ghana as she assumed office as an ambassador seven months ago and discuss ways to expand existing relations between the University and the Turkish Embassy.

In welcoming the Ambassador, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ernest Aryeetey noted that the university had a very good relationship with her predecessor and was excited about her visit.  He gave her a brief   history of the University of Ghana and presented her with the current UG Research Report and a copy of the University’s strategic plan to give her an idea of ongoing transformations in the University. Prof. Aryeetey explained further that some of the changes being undertaken to make the University remain relevant in the world include intensifying research and graduate studies.

In response to Prof. Aryeetey, Her Excellency Bayazit expressed her admiration for the achievements of the University in enhancing the image of the country. She looked forward to more opportunities for critical and well-structured partnerships between Turkey and Ghana.

She later presented him with a book on the history of Turkey.
