Students Financial Aid Office Hosts Donors and Beneficiaries of Fondazoine Edu Scholarship

The University of Ghana’s Student’s Financial Aid Office (SFAO) has hosted an event dubbed “Lunch with Fondazione Edu Scholarship Beneficiaries” to afford donors and beneficiaries of the scholarship scheme the platform to meet formally. The brief ceremony took place at the forecourt of the Student Financial Aid Office.

Dr. Kwadwo Ayeh, Senior Lecturer, Department of Plant and Environment Biology, on behalf of Prof. Godfred A. Bopkin, Dean of Student Affairs, in his welcome address, appreciated all present. He expressed joy and gratitude towards the continuous support that Fondazione Edu was providing to needful but brilliant students. Dr. Ayeh said “The financial aid provided to students becomes meaningful when students return with the knowledge and skills to develop the nation and the University.” 

He further admonished students to take advantage of the assistance accorded them and work hard towards the realisation of their set goals.

Mr. Tommaso Stefanelli, Vice-Chairman, Fondazione Edu Scholarship, in his address, conveyed immense appreciation to participants present and expressed joy at the opportunity to formally meet beneficiaries. He said, “It’s been over 10 years since Fondazione Edu had this long-lasting relationship with the University of Ghana and we hope this will continue”. Mr. Stefanelli disclosed that the aim of the Foundation was to promote higher education in Africa and to develop students’ skills and knowledge in Africa

Mr. Tommaso Stefanelli stated that one objective of Fondazione Edu was to increase their presence and create awareness on the grounds of the University. 

Mrs. Chiara Piaggio, Programme Officer, Fondazione Edu, said without the Students Financial Aid Office, relations with Fondazione Edu would cease. She also congratulated beneficiaries of the scholarship scheme and expressed the optimism that the beneficiaries would continue to break glass ceilings and aim for the best.

Mrs. Valentina Mutti, another Programme Officer, Fondazione Edu, in brief remarks said that the Foundation was grateful to graduates and beneficiaries of the year groups. Mrs. Mutti disclosed plans to grow the students’ groups to achieve the aims of the Foundation.

Mrs. Victoria Anim, Acting Head, SFAO, in her closing remarks reiterated appreciation to participants and beneficiaries for their participation. She was confident that the financial aid was producing effective and efficient leaders who would move the country and the University forward.

Mr. Douglas Agyei, a final year beneficiary, expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chairman of Fondazione Edu and the University on behalf of the beneficiaries while moving the vote of thanks.

Earlier on, certificates were presented to graduates of the scholarship programme, while beneficiary students also made presentations to Fondazione Edu.
