Seven University of Ghana students have been awarded scholarships totalling Twenty-nine thousand Ghana Cedis (GH₵29,000.00) under the Standard Chartered Bank Science and Kenneth Dadzie Memory Education Trust Funds.

Thirty-three students drawn from the University of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, University of Cape Coast, University of Development Studies, and University of Education, Winneba have benefited from the funds.

Speaking at a short presentation ceremony at the Standard Chartered Bank Headquarters, Mrs. Mansa Nettey, Chief Executive Officer, Standard Chartered Bank, said education remains an integral component of the Bank’s community investment and strong advocate for the United Nations Global Goals for Sustainable Development which seeks to make the world a better place by 2030. She also said Standard Chartered Bank aims at empowering girl child education through sports and life skills education in order to make informed-life choices.

The Board Trustee of Standard Chartered Bank, Mr. Kweku Nimfa-Essuman, said the essence of the trust fund is to provide funding by way of scholarship and other financial assistance to brilliant students. The Kenneth Dadzie Memorial Trust Fund focuses on students pursuing postgraduate programs in Economics and Business related courses, whilst Science Trust Fund caters for postgraduate and undergraduate students offering various courses in the Sciences. Mr. Nimfa-Essuman therefore admonished the beneficiaries to take full advantage of the scheme and learn hard in order to make an impact in the world.

One of the beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the Bank on behalf of his colleagues for the financial assistance and pledged to work hard.
