The Provost of the College of Education (COE), Prof. Samuel Nii Ardey Codjoe has represented the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana at the just ended 44th Board meeting of the African Council for Distance Education (ACDE) in Pretoria, South Africa.

The ACDE is a continental educational organisation comprising African universities and other higher education institutions, which are committed to expanding access to quality education and training through open, distance and e-learning (ODeL).

Delivering the welcome address, the Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of South Africa (UNISA) and incumbent Treasurer of the ACDE, Prof. Puleng LenkaBula, expressed appreciation to all participants for making it to the Conference. She announced that proceedings at the Conference will include a meeting of programme directors, committee meetings and the full board meeting. Prof. LenkaBula wished all participants fruitful deliberations at their meetings.

Based on his plans for future collaboration, Prof. Codjoe witnessed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) concluded between UNISA and the Zimbabwe Open University (ZOU) at a gala dinner hosted by UNISA.

The main thrust of the bilateral agreement includes, among others, pedagogical and scientific exchange of lecturers, researchers and students (undergraduate and postgraduate); sharing of teaching and training programmes, as well as collaboration in many other areas.

The agreement further makes provision for implementation mechanisms to facilitate the identification of priority areas as well as implementation of the agreement itself.
