Prof. Yasuyuki Yoshizawa delivering the Lecture
Professor Yasuyuki Yoshizawa, President of the Tokyo Medical and Dental University (TMDU), has delivered a special public lecture on the topic “A Historical Perspective of Interstitial Pneumonia and the Outline of TMDU” at the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER), UG. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ebenezer Oduro Owusu chaired the lecture.
Prof. Yoshizawa began his lecture with an exciting profile of his contribution to research in interstitial lung diseases, defining the scope of his research to cover Pulmonary Immunology, Acute Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis (Acute HP), Chronic Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis (Chronic HP) and the similarities between Chronic HP, and Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF). By means of his clinical approaches to research in the areas mentioned, Prof. Yoshizawa has developed instructions for achieving better prognosis of hypersensitivity pneumonia.
Prof. Yoshizawa also made a presentation on TMDU, outlining its achievements, vision, joint degree programmes with other world-class universities. He believed that the agreement between the University of Ghana and TMDU on academic exchange will help in the training great professionals who would help contribute to the well-being of citizens in their countries.

The Vice-Chancellor closed the section by highlighting the educational quality of the lecture and presentation - the statistical evidence, the history, the insights into research and analysis, and the linkages to practical life situations, including the resilience of Prof. Yoshizawa himself, who he noted, never allowed failures to overwhelm him.
After the special lecture, the Vice Chancellor hosted the visiting team to a lunch at the Vice-Chancellor’s Lodge. The two later exchanged gifts.
