Professor Kwame Offei Appointed to Serve as Jury Member for the GCHERA World Agriculture Prize

Prof. Kwame Offei, Director of the Biotechnology Centre and immediate past Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic and Student Affairs), has been appointed to serve as a member of the Jury for the Global Confederation of Higher Education Associations for Agricultural and Life Sciences (GCHERA) World Agriculture Prize.

Prof. Offei’s appointment as juror follows a recommendation and assessment by GCHERA of his leadership in Higher Education, record of research publications, mentoring of young scientists, and service to communities.

The selection of the World Agriculture Prize Laureate is made by an International Jury composed of a panel of distinguished experts in agricultural and life sciences, including agriculture, forestry, natural resources, food, bio-based products, bioenergy, rural development and the environment.

Members of the Jury are drawn yearly from a Jury Pool, which consists of about thirty recognized university professionals and administrators in agriculture from around the world. Selected jurors satisfy the criteria of regional and disciplinary representation.

The GCHERA World Agriculture Prize (WAP) aims to encourage the development of the mission of higher education institutions in education, research, innovation and outreach in the agricultural and life sciences by recognizing the distinguished contribution of an individual to this mission.

The full membership of the Jury is published on the GCHERA website (http://bit.ly/3aPGn87)
