Pro-VC (ASA) Commissions Junior Common Room Projects

The Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Academic and Students Affairs, Prof. Gordon Akanzuwine Awandare, has commissioned the Junior Common Room (JCR) projects for the Dr. Hilla Limann Hall to generate and increase income for the JCR. The projects include the establishment of the Kwadwo Owusu Ayeh (K. O. Ayeh) 100-Seater Conference Room and refurbished Television Room.

In brief remarks, Prof. Awandare commended the President and executives of the JCR for the initiative in improving the student experience in the Hall. He noted that the projects align with the Vice-Chancellor’s vision for the University in enhancing the learning experiences of students through digitalisation. Prof. Awandare encouraged students to return as alumni for the purpose of developing the University. He stated that the issue of accommodation for students was a priority for Management. Therefore, developing additional residential facilities was key to curbing the challenges of housing students. Prof. Awandare was also hopeful that both rooms would serve their intended purposes in benefitting residents in the Hall.

Dr. Kwadwo Owusu Ayeh, Senior Hall Tutor, Dr. Hilla Limann Hall, in his address, stated that the projects were intended to generate welfare fund to increase financial returns to the benefit of the residents. Dr. Ayeh expressed the view that strengthening collaboration between the University and the private sector will contribute to reducing the housing deficit on campus.

Earlier the JCR President, Mr. Albert Nii Noi Okwei in his address appreciated all present and indicated that the commissioning of the K. O. Ayeh Conference Room and the refurbished TV room will uplift the welfare of residents and elevate the good name of the Hall. 

The brief ceremony saw the presentation of citations to Prof. Gordon Awandare; Dr. Kwadwo Ayeh; Prof. Bernardin Seneadza, Former Senior Hall Tutor; Mrs. Martha Osafo-Oppong, Operations Manager, University of Ghana Enterprise Limited (UGEL); Ayisha Abdul-Razak, Kwame Owusu Boateng and Emmanuel Tettey Enyo Tekutey; for their tremendous support to the JCR.

Giving the vote of thanks, Miss. Ewoenam Gbeglo, Vice-President of the Hilla Limann Hall conveyed the Hall’s appreciation to the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (ASA) and all participants for honoring their invitation.

Present at the ceremony were Mr. Raymond Narbi, General Manager, UGEL; Mr. Richard Ofori, Financial Controller, UGEL; and Hajia Lariba Montia and Dr. Zilla Limann, daughters of Former President, Dr. Hilla Limann. 

Also present were former JCR Presidents; students and tutors of the Hilla Limann Hall.
