The Tokyo Medical and Dental University (TMDU) and the University of Ghana (UG) have concluded weeks of discussions with the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), the main purpose of which is to develop academic cooperation and to promote mutual understanding between the two institutions by facilitating the exchange of faculty, students, researchers, and administrative staff through collaboration in research and the promotion of graduate and continuing education.

Welcoming the Tokyo delegation, the Dean of International Programmes, Professor Ama de-Graft Aikins, recalled the long-standing productive partnership between the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research and TMDU and was confident that the MOU to be signed would expand and deepen the pre-existing relationship between the two universities across disciplines, projects and partnerships.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ebenezer Oduro-Owusu, gave the delegation an overview of the University of Ghana’s activities and restructuring efforts over the years, adding that UG requires such cooperation and collaboration in pursuit of its mission of attaining a world-class status.
