The Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship at the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS), is setting aside two (2) days in every month as a Marketing Alumni Interaction Day to either visit alumni or invite them to the department.  This will allow the department to reconnect with them and enlist their support in the development of the department and the University of Ghana Business School.  This, the department believes is also in line with the vision of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ebenezer Oduro Owusu to make the University of Ghana a go-to University.

The inaugural visit took four members of the Outreach, Consultancy and Alumni Team, led by Dr. Mahmoud Abdulai Mahmoud to visit Rev. Stephen Wengam, the founding and lead Pastor of Cedar Mountain Chapel, Assemblies of God at American House, East Legon, Accra on Friday, 5th April, 2019. The team was comprised of Dr. Mahmoud, Mr. Prince Boateng, Ms. Lawrencia Walker and Ms. Gloria Adu-Darko.

After opening prayers and exchange of pleasantries, Dr. Mahmoud in his introductory remarks, said that the department intends to launch an Alumni Association and the visit was part of efforts to mobilize the alumni ahead of the launch.  Rev. Wengam said he felt honoured to be the first alumnus to be visited by the department. In applauding the idea, he said “since we are all in the field, it’ll be great to come back to our alma mater and interact with one another.” Rev. Wengam added that he looked forward to being part of the Alumni Association.

Rev. Wengam suggested that UGBS should consider developing short courses for practitioners who may not have enough time to spend a year or two doing a Master’s programme.  In response, Dr. Mahmoud explained that the department was working to start a marketing executive education programme to oversee the delivery of marketing-related training courses along the lines of the UGBS Executive Education.

Rev. Stephen Wengam, an alumnus of the University of Ghana,  holds a BSc. Administration (Marketing Option) from the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS).  Rev. Wengam who is a member of the Citi FM Foundation Board and the Senior Resident Radio Pastor of Citi 97.3FM, also hosts a family morning devotion programme, “This is your Day”.

The Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship is one of the six departments in the University of Ghana Business School. The department just concluded a maiden Denmark International Study Tour for some of its master’s students; is in the process of launching a Departmental Strategic Plan and is also set to celebrate a maiden UG Marketing Excellence Week (MEW) from 29th April to 3rd May 2019.
