Lufthansa Group to Undertake Design Thinking Workshop at the University of Ghana

Rita Macedo, Country Manager, Brussels Airlines Ghana, a Lufthansa group subsidiary has called on the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ebenezer Oduro Owusu. The purpose of the visit was to notify the Vice-Chancellor of the Group’s plans to organize a design thinking workshop in the University.

In a short presentation, Ms Macedo indicated that the workshop will include training sessions and project developments and will be partnered by corporate bodies affiliated to the Lufthansa Group and local companies. The workshop will also focus on ways to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals with special emphasis on areas such as the environment, agriculture, healthcare, tourism and the economy.

Prof. Ebenezer Oduro Owusu in brief remarks expressed appreciation to the Lufthansa Group for choosing the University as venue for the workshop.  He noted that as a leading University which aims at reducing poverty, (SDG1), it is heart-warming to note that the workshop will equip students with skills to be innovative, create business opportunities for themselves, reduce graduate unemployment and ultimately reduce poverty. He further assured Ms Macedo of the University’s commitment in making the workshop a success.

Ms Macedo was accompanied by the Colombian Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Mrs. Claudia Turbay Quintero.

The Design Thinking workshop is an innovative, agile approach to product development in which a problem is identified from a user perspective. The objective of the workshop is to solve problems with a business model. Throughout the process, the Design Thinking method is consistently focused on the needs of users. Participants of the conference will learn skills such as innovative, customer-oriented thinking or execution focus.
