Ghana Reinsurance Company Supports SFAO

Ghana Reinsurance Company Limited (Ghana Re.) has presented a cheque of GH₵ 22,500.00 to the Students Financial Aid Office (SFAO) of the University of Ghana. The presentation was made as part of the Company’s annual corporate social responsibility drive.

Receiving the cheque, Prof. Francis Nunoo, the Dean of Student Affairs at the University of Ghana, expressed the University’s appreciation to Ghana Reinsurance Company Ltd for the kind gesture. He noted that the Company has since 2007 been supporting the University of Ghana under the Students Financial Aid scheme.  He underscored the importance of the partnership between the University and Ghana Reinsurance and added that the money will go a long way to help brilliant but needy students to access quality education and contribute to society’s development.

The Managing Director of Ghana Reinsurance, Dr. Abiba Zakariah, said the Company is mindful of the challenges faced by many institutions in the country.  Thus as part of its responsibility to society, Ghana Re has over the years committed itself to supporting the development needs of institutions in the healthcare and education sector. She implored other corporate institutions and well-wishers to come on board and support the less privileged in the society.

The College of Health Sciences of the University of Ghana also received a cheque of GH₵30,000.00. The Provost of the College, Rev. Prof. Patrick Ayeh Kumi, who received the cheque, said the money will be used to augment postgraduate programmes and research training. He thanked Ghana Re. for embarking on these annual presentations, noting that the support has contributed to building the human capacity in the country. He prayed for God’s favour to help Ghana Re. continue their good work.
