Four University of Ghana PhD Students Awarded Fellowships by the Danish Fellowship Centre

Four (4) University of Ghana PhD Students have been awarded a three-month fellowship programme at the Copenhagen Business School (CBS) by the Danish Fellowship Centre (DFC) as part of the Advancing Creative Industries for Development in Ghana (ACIG) Project.

The awardees, Ms Lilian Ama Afun and Mr. Reginald Arthur, Department of Organization and Human Resources Management; Ms Wilhemina Tetteh, Department of Theatre Arts and Mr. Kobina Doudu Graham, Department of Sociology, will be in Denmark from October – December 2021 under the supeversion of the Danish Principal Researchers in the ACIG Project.

The ACIG project focuses on various sub-sectors in the Ghanaian creative industry, such as the music, film, visual arts, fashion design and handicrafts sub-sectors. It is expected that the project will generate novel empirical and theoretical knowledge on how creative industries can contribute to sustainable economic growth and development in an African context.

 ACIG is a 5-year research project at the University of Ghana (UG), in collaboration with Copenhagen Business School (CBS), Denmark, and Loughborough University (LU), United Kingdom, with funding from the Danish Foreign Ministry (DANIDA).

The University officials on the project are Dr. Mohammed-Aminu Sanda, Project Co-Coordinator, Department of Organisation and Human Resource Management; Prof. Akosua Kesseboa Darkwah, Acting Dean, School of Information and Communication Studies and Principal Researcher, Department of Sociology; Prof. Olivia Anku-Tsede, Legal Counsel and Principal Researcher, Department of Organisation and Human Resource Management and Dr. Rashida Resario, Principal Researcher, Department of Theatre Arts, all from the College of Humanities.

The Danish team is composed of Prof. Thilde Langevang and Prof. Ana Alacovska, both from the Copenhagen Business School (CBS), while the United Kingdom team is made up of Prof. Katherine Gough and Prof. Ele Belfiore.
