Dr. David Dodoo-Arhin Selected As Fellow Of Africa Science Leadership Programme

Dr. David Dodoo-Arhin, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Material Science and Engineering, School of Engineering Sciences has been selected as a fellow of the Africa Science Leadership Programme (ASLP).

The release that accompanied the award noted that this is a significant achievement considering that there was a large number of “strong applications from across the continent, and following two rounds of assessment by an international panel and the ASLP management team”.  In all, 22 fellows were selected out of 300 applicants.  Dr. Dodoo-Arhin’s will be part of a ground breaking training programme scheduled to take place in Pretoria, South Africa.

Professor Bernard Slippers, project leader from the University of Pretoria and past co-chair of the Global Young Academy noted that “African science is brimming with potential, but is currently underdeveloped. The ASLP programme recognizes the need for quality and collective leadership skills amongst the next generation of scientists who are steering the development and expansion of this system,”

The ASLP is part of the Future Africa Initiative by the University of Pretoria in Partnership with the Global Young Academy.
