Advisory Board of International Programmes Office (IPO) Holds Inaugural Meeting

The reconstituted Advisory Board of International Programmes Office (IPO) held its inaugural meeting on 29th May, 2019 at IPO’s Conference Room.

The Office was established in 1997 to co-ordinate and promote the University's external relations and offers a range of services to visiting and regular international students, visiting scholars and institutional partners, including processing agreements, orientation on University of Ghana (UG) and Ghana, volunteer activities and bespoke short-term programmes. The Office also provides opportunities for students to study abroad as well as facilitating faculty and staff engagement with the University’s institutional partners.

IPO’s original Advisory Board provided strategic direction and support from 2008 until 2014, when the University adopted the collegiate system of governance. The reconstituted Board was approved by the Business and Executive Committee in April 2018 with representatives from the four colleges and key units and partners of the University and the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic and Student Affairs) as Chair. The Advisory Board is expected to meet once every semester beginning 2019/2020 academic year.

Present at the inaugural meeting was Professor Samuel Kwame Offei, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, (Academic & Student Affairs) and Chair of the Board; Professor Ama de-Graft Aikins, Dean of IPO; Professor Robert Darko Osei, Vice Dean, School of Graduate Studies; Professor Kwasi Appeaning Addo, Director, Institute for Environment & Sanitation Studies; Professor Charlotte Wrigley-Asante, Director, Centre for Gender Studies and Advocacy; Professor Isaac Asiedu-Gyekye, Dean, School of Pharmacy, Dr. Gilbert Tietaah, School of Communication Studies, Dr. Kwasi Gyasi-Gyamerah, Director of Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE), Mr. Daniel Hormeku, Assistant Registrar of IPO and Secretary to the Board, Mr. Daniel Kwabla Azumah, Representative of Physical Development and Municipal Services Directorate (PDMSD) and Mr. Frederick Yuorkuu, Representative of Academic Affairs Directorate.
