The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA-Ghana) has donated 1200 tree seedlings to the University of Ghana towards the Vice-Chancellor’s Green Project.  The donation was made to commemorate the Agency’s National Community Day which fell on the 6th of March.  The seedlings were presented to the University by the Country Director of ADRA-Ghana, Dr. William Yaw K. Brown. He further commended the University for the Green Project Initiative.  The seedlings were received on behalf of the University by Dr. Benjamin. D. Ofori, Co-chair of the Vice Chancellor’s Green Project.

To mark the presentation ceremony, the University of Ghana Chapter of the Ghana National Association of Adventist Students (GNAAS-UG) planted some of the seedlings in the “N-Block” and “New N-Block”. The tree planting exercise was the second by the group since the launch of the Green Project; the first was in October 2017.

Dr. Brown expressed delight for the opportunity to be part of the Vice-Chancellor’s Green Project and hoped that subsequently, his outfit would partner the students to plant more trees on campus. He assured Mr. Philip Quaye, the University’s Curator of post-planting support. On behalf of the Student’s Fellowship, the Chaplain, Pastor Elorm Edison, indicated that they will continue to support the vision of the Vice-Chancellor in order to make the University’s environment a healthier one.

Dr. Ofori thanked ADRA-Ghana and GNAAS-UG for their kind gesture and support for the Vice-Chancellor’s vision of greening the campus. He seized the opportunity to announce the student-led Plastic Recycling Project and implored the students to show similar support when the programme is finally rolled out.
