Acting Provost of the College Of Education Visits Gbewaa College Of Education

On March 2, 2022, the Acting Provost of the College of Education, Prof. Martin Oteng-Ababio, in the company of some officials from the University, paid a working visit to the Gbewaa College of Education in Pusiga, the Upper East Region.

The visit provided the Acting Provost an opportunity to familiarise himself with the activities at the Gbewaa campus, which is now running the Bachelor of Education curriculum under the mentorship of the University of Ghana.

The delegation was warmly received by Dr. Halidu Musah, Principal of the College and his staff after which the group held a closed-door meeting to deliberate on some administrative issues.

During the visit, the Pusiga Naaba and his entourage held a meeting with the University delegation and Management of the Gbewaa College concerning the re-introduction of the Kusaal language as a taught subject in the College’s curriculum.

The University delegation later held an interactive session with both staff and students of the College during which a number of pertinent academic issues were discussed.

In his address, Prof. Oteng-Ababio reiterated the University of Ghana’s desire of becoming a world-class research-intensive institution and urged all the staff of its affiliate Colleges to strive to harness their professional development. He also used the occasion to admonish students to see education as an indispensable tool to bring about the positive changes they seek in their localities and an important medium for creating an atmosphere of peace, harmony, and unity for all.

On behalf of Management, staff and students of the College, Dr. Musah thanked Prof. Oteng-Ababio for the visit and affirmed their resolve to take the necessary steps in putting into action some suggestions proposed by the delegation.

The delegation from the University included Dr. Samuel Eshun, Head of the Bolgatanga Learning Centre; Mr. Daniel Afari, College Management Accountant; Arc. Mawufemor Kwadzo, College Facility Manager; Mr. Salifu Adjei, Organiser and Mr. Prosper Agyei, Accounting Assistant both from the Bolgatanga Learning Centre.
