Objectives and Vision

It is the vision of the Department of Music to be a center of excellence in the teaching and learning of African Music through innovative research and performance practice to engender creative and critical analytic skills in our students, and to produce high caliber graduates to meet the nation’s human resource needs on the growing cultural industry as well as to provide the University community, surrounding communities and the country at large with world class scholars.

It is in the light of this vision that the Department has the mission to research into indigenous musical cultures of Ghana, Africa and the world to equip students with the necessary skills and theoretical knowledge needed to pursue a successful career in music and related arts.
