Research interest
• Fisheries Biology, Ecology & Management (studies on biology and ecology of important commercial species; fisheries management plans and issues, marine protected areas, IUU fishing assessments, reduction and better utilisation of by-catch and discards in fisheries, fish ageing using otoliths and dorsal spines; fisheries co-management).
• Fish Processing and Utilisation. Safe processing of fish and fish value chain analyses.
• Biodiversity and Coastal Zone Management Issues bordering on conservation. Education of community groups e.g. school children to raise awareness on coastal resource conservation including climate change and how it affects biodiversity.
Current research/project(s)
• Assessing the quality and shelf life of smoked fish in Ghana using two improved lesser known smoking kilns.
• Monitoring, Control and Surveillance of Ghanaian fisheries: a case study of Tema fishing harbour.
• Impacts of climate change on small pelagic fish resources in Ghana.
• Impacts of Climate change on clam fisheries in Densu wetlands.
• Mapping and Assessment of coastal ecosystem services in Butre and Iture wetlands towards improved management .
• Microbial and nutritional quality of fish along the dried anchovy Engraulis encrasicolus (Linnaeus 1758) value chain.
