Weather forecasting is a very important aspect of ocean navigation and as such needs much attention for safety and security. This course seeks to equip students with skills in processing and interpreting ocean weather data with the aim of modelling and predicting unusual future weather events for the protection of life and property both at sea and on land. The course will therefore take students through areas such as Air-sea-water interactions; Long term weather data and trends; Cyclogenesis; weather forecasting; Modelling of air-sea-water interactions; Climate change modelling.
