This course will introduce students to the components and structure of the earth and give them insight into the formation and dynamics of continental landforms. Areas to be treated include Geophysical techniques; Structure of the earth’s interior; Evolution of continental margins and ocean basins; Plate tectonics; Plate boundaries; Active and passive margins; Physiography of the continental margin; Coastal landform morphology; Coastal processes; Facies and stratigraphy; Physiography of the ocean floor; Deep sea processes; Palaeoceanography; and Marine sediments.
