The aim of this course is to make students understand and appreciate the uniqueness of ecological processes occurring in brackish water environments. Students will be taken through fundamental courses in brackish water ecology which include: Descriptions and classifications of lagoons and estuaries; Physical characteristics of lagoons and estuaries; Lagoon and estuarine chemistry; Stratification in lagoons and estuaries; Lagoon and estuarine sediments; Deltas; The biota of lagoons and estuaries; Adaptations of lagoon and estuarine organisms; Ecology of lagoons and estuaries; and Anthropogenic impacts.
