AQUA 614: AQUACULTURE ECONOMICS

The course intends to provide the ability to apply basic economic principles and to understand economic issues relating to aquaculture. Emphasis is placed on the review of basic economic principles; Global status of aquaculture; Economic aspects of fish production; Economics of fish rearing- biotechnical information required, equipment necessary and costs. The course will further cover the estimation of operation costs of fish production in culture facilities (capital and recurrent costs) and the estimation of profits from fish farms in a normal year.
