About the Programme
Acievements
During its first and second phase, the ITPPGG reached very satisfactory results among which:
- the realization of 25 training courses aimed at building or improving the capacity of African civilians working or willing to work on peace support operations. The personnel of one international peace-keeping mission (UNMEE) were also trained;
the capacity building of more than 500 African civilians;
- the receipt of about 3000 applications from individuals all over the African continent;
- the development of an Active Learning Packages in electronic format (CD Rom) to provide participants with a comprehensive database of information covering every aspect of the training courses;
- the facilitation of participants’ access to employment opportunities in international peace support operations all over the world, through its collaboration with the UNV Office in Bonn and the African Standby Roster for Humanitarian Assistance (AFDEM) - whose officers interview the participants during the courses for possible placements on their databases - and its relation with national and international organizations in Africa (to learn more about this, please refer to the section ' Participants' Corner' );
- the development of strong collaborative and mutually beneficial relationships with relevant African regional and sub-regional organizations, among which ECOWAS, the African Union and the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre;
- the organization of various meetings in Africa and around the world to advertise the aim and work of the project.
