Staff University of Ghana Research Committee Method of Application
Regulations on the Administration of the Research and Conferences Fund
METHOD OF APPLICATION
The following procedure must be adopted or observed when applying for financial assistance from either the Conference Fund or the Research Fund.
All applications must be submitted through the applicant’s Head of Department or Director of Institute/School to the Faculty Board/the Management Committee/Council before they are forwarded to and considered by the Research and Conferences Committee. As far as possible, the head of organization should state his/her grounds for supporting an application. He/she may be guided by the following thoughts or factors:
(a) Would the proposal be ranked priority in the research goals of the Department, Institute or School?
(b) Has any research already been carried out on the selected topic in Ghana or elsewhere?
(c) Would the research results contribute anything new to the field? If Yes, specify.
(d) Is the applicant capable of completing the project within the specified time?
(e) Can the results be applied?
The Faculty Board/Management Committee/Council will consider whether the Application deserves support purely on academic or professional grounds, and when such support is given, the application will then be referred to the Research and Conferences Committee for consideration.
An application which is not supported by the Head or Director of the applicant’s organization may nevertheless be referred with the comments of the Head to the appropriate Faculty Board/Management Committee/Council.
The decision of the Research and Conferences Committee shall be communicated by the Secretary of the Research and Conferences Committee to the applicant with copies to:
The Head of Department or Director of the Institute/School
The relevant Dean or Director and
The Director of Finance (if the decision is positive).
All prospective applicants are urged to study these regulations carefully for the full details required by the Research and Conferences Committee in relation to their applications.
