Certificate In Paediatric Nursing Programme At School Of Nursing, College Of Health Sciencespdf print preview print preview
 
The School of Nursing, College of Health Sciences at the University of Ghana, Legon has commenced a Paediatric Nursing Certificate Programme from Monday, May 30, 2011.

The Paediatric Nursing Training Certificate Programme is the first of its kind in Ghana. It is a specialty designed to meet the increasing national health demands for quality child care. The training is aimed to address issues on child health, which is targeted at achieving the Millennium Development Goal #4 - reduce child morbidity and mortality rates.

Graduates of this programme will be qualified to be leaders in paediatric nursing and will be able to write a certification exam through the Nurses and Midwives' Council.

The Certificate in Paediatric Nursing is a programme approved by the University of Ghana, offered at the School of Nursing, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, the Ghana Health Service, Nurses and Midwives' Council of Ghana, Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and SickKids International of Canada. It is a 12-month programme with lectures to be held during the vacation period and the clinicals during regular sessions of the University of Ghana.

It is the intention of School of Nursing to incorporate this course into its post graduate programme.

The Programme is financially supported through the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and the SickKids Foundation for a 3-year period. Beyond the International support period, it is anticipated that the Ministry of Health will provide financial support for the programme.
