Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the MA, M.PHIL and Ph.D programmes in migration studies at the Centre for Migration Studies; MA and LLM programmes in Human Rights & Humanitarian Law, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Human Rights & Administration and Oil and Gas Law are also on offer at the Faculty of Law, University of Ghana. FACULTY OF LAW
SPECIAL MASTERS PROGRAMMES FOR LAWYERS AND NON-LAWYERS
MA – HUMAN RIGHTS & ADMINISTRATION
Admission Requirements: A good first degree (at least a second class lower division) in any discipline from any recognized University.
Who Should Apply: The programme will benefit personnel of the Civil Service, Security Services, the Teaching Service, Professional Administrators (e.g. University Administrators, Heads of Polytechnics, Heads of Teacher Training Institutions etc.), NGO Executives, and Private Individuals. The programme is designed to meet the need for legal knowledge of non-lawyers, particularly those with human rights and administration related legal risks and responsibilities in their jobs.
MA - ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION
Admission Requirements: A good first degree (at least a second class lower division) in any discipline from any recognized University.
LL.M – ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION
Admission Requirements: A good first degree (at least a second class lower division) in Law from any recognized University.
Who should apply: The Alternative Dispute Resolution programmes will satisfy the needs of lawyers and non-lawyers in negotiations, mediations and arbitrations. Non-lawyers in Management, Human Resource Managers, the mining sector, NGOs and others will develop advanced skills that will improve their efficiency on the job.
LL.M -OIL & GAS LAW PROGRAMME
Admission Requirements: A good first degree (at least a second class lower division) in Law from any recognized University.
Who should apply: The programme will be suitable for legal professionals seeking to upgrade their skills while at the same time gaining formal academic recognition for such upgrading. In this vein, the programme will establish and maintain strong linkages with not only the oil and gas industry but also with the non-oil private and public sectors of the economic which require professional legal skills to engage effectively with the industry.
Cost of Programmes: All programmes are on fee-paying basis .
CENTRE FOR MIGRATION STUDIES
ADMISSION OF STUDENTS INTO MA, M.PHIL AND P.HD MIGRATION STUDIES PROGRAMME
MIGRATION STUDIES - MA/MPHIL/PHD
Objectives
The graduate programmes in migration studies aim to equip students to develop critical perspectives and knowledge of migration issues and dynamics in a range of contexts in the contemporary world with a special focus on Africa. The programme will introduce students to a wide range of theoretical and conceptual frameworks and analytical tools for undertaking migration research and policy design. The programme adopts an inter disciplinary approach to examine key issues of migration as a multi-dimensional process.
Admission Requirements
M.A Programme
Candidates must have a good first degree(at least a second class lower division) in the Social or Natural Sciences.
M.Phil Programme
Candidates must possess an M.A. in Migration Studies or a related discipline.
Ph.D Programme
Candidates must have an M.Phil Degree in Migration Studies or any related discipline.
Relevant working experience will be an advantage for admission into all the three programmes
Applicants under all the three categories will be required to attend an interview.
They are all fee-paying programmes and will run on full-time basis.

On-line application e-vouchers can be obtained by Ghanaian applicants for GH¢ 80.00 at the following banks: Ecobank, HFC Bank, Agricultural Development Bank, Unibank, and Fidelity Bank. Applicants should follow carefully the instructions on the voucher.
Applicants must in addition submit the following documents to the School of Graduate Studies.
i. 2 copies of Certificate authenticated by institution awarding degree
ii. 2 copies of original Transcript.
iii. 3 Referee Reports
iv. “Proof of submission of application” form.
N/B Kindly write your serial number as it appears on the e-voucher on all the
above documents before submission. The name of the programme being applied for should also be written on all documents.
2.International Applicants and Ghanaians applying from abroad should visit UNIVERSITY OF GHANA website at “www.ug.edu.gh’’ to download Graduate School application form. After completion, the form should be sent to the address below with a non-refundable application fee of US$ 80.00 in Travellers’ cheques or International money order. Applicants within the West-African sub-region should pay the fee into the UNIVERSITY OF GHANA ECOBANK ACCOUNT.
