REGISTRATION PROCEDURE FOR FRESHMEN/WOMEN
2008/2009 ACADEMIC YEAR

Registration procedure for the 2008/2009 academic year involves four main steps. This procedure supersedes the earlier publication in the “Manual on Registration and Orientation for Freshmen, 2008” included in the admission package.

STEP 1: Academic Registration

i.Pay University fees IN FULL at the designated banks specified in your admission letter. (Ensure that you quote your Student Number and write your name correctly on pay-in-slips at the Banks).

PLEASE NOTE THAT YOUR REGISTRATION WILL BE SUCCESSFUL ONLY IF YOU HAVE PAID YOUR FEES IN FULL.

ii.Proceed to do Academic Registration through the University website www.ug.edu.gh using any computer with internet access before you arrive on Campus. (The steps for the on-line registration are available on the University’s website).

STUDENTS CAN ALSO REGISTER ON-LINE AT THE ICT DIRECTORATE, UNIVERSITY OF GHANA, BEFORE WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 6, 2008.

Students who have any difficulty with the on-line registration should send their complaint(s) to reghelp@ug.edu.gh. In sending the complaint, indicate your name and student ID number.


STEP 2: Get your Student ID Card

All freshmen/women are expected to report to Campus on the respective DATES indicated in the schedule below. You are required to bring along the original copy of the admission letter for identification.

Upon arrival, proceed to the ID Card Centre specified for your programme and do the following:

i.Take a photograph;
ii.Pick ID Card; and
iii.Proceed to your Hall Representative’s Desk for a slip.

All these should take place at the Designated ID Centre.

Full Fee-Paying Students

Fee-Paying Students are to report at the Faculty of Social Studies Annex Building, adjacent to the Department of Political Science from Friday, August 8 to Saturday, August 16, 2008.

Foreign Students

All Foreign Students should report at the Office of International Programmes, located in the K. A. B. Jones-Quartey Building, close to the University’s main gate.

STEP 3: Register at your designated Hall of Residence


At the Hall, locate the registration desk and show your slip (obtained at the ID Centre) to the registration assistant for processing.

STEP 4: Proceed to Register at the Faculty/Departments

After the Hall Registration:

i.Go to the Faculty where you have been offered admission, for registration; and
ii.Proceed to respective Departments for registration.

Orientation Programme
Orientation for freshmen/women begins on Monday, August 11, 2008 for undergraduates/non-degree and foreign students.

Please note that the orientation is COMPULSORY for all freshmen/women.
