1. NEGOTIATION SKILLS FOR OIL AND GAS CONTRACTS
Persons working on oil and Gas Contracts or Negotiations.
Minimum of a First Degree.
Dates: June 3 - 7, 2013

3. Specialization Course on The Protection of Refugees and Persons of Concern
9—14 September, 2013

Security challenges in Africa have caused mass displacement of persons from their habitual places of residence, with some persons crossing the borders of their countries. The protection of such persons require a gamut of interventions to ensure that they receive comprehensively, the support required for their survival. These require specific knowledge and special skill sets. Yet, persons who are called upon to provide such assistance often do not always have the requisite knowledge and skills. The course is therefore aimed at addressing this gap.


The course is open to functionaries from Government agencies, Civil Society, the Military, Police, Immigration Service, International organizations, NGO’s and the private sector.

The course would be facilitated by renowned human rights and refugee experts such as Bill O’Neil and Andrea de Guttry as well as officials from the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees


THIS COURSE IS DELIVERED IN ENGLISH
Topics to be covered would include:

  • Protection of Vulnerable Populations
  • International Human Rights & Humanitarian Law
  • African Union Instruments on Migration, Refugees, Stateless persons and internally Displaced Persons
  • International Law and Migration
  • The Law of Internal Displacement
  • International Refugee Law
  • Persons in Detention : Minimum Standards
  • UN Human Rights Machinery
  • Enhancing the security of refugees and persons of concern through the Rule of Law.
  • Human Rights Monitoring

Cost per participant :
$1,218 (Residential) International Applicants only
Gh¢1,456 (Non Residential Local Applicants)
This includes a Accommodation, Tuition, Ground transportation, breakfast and lunch, course materials and an interactive learning package. NB. Accommodation available at $70 per night.
