SFAO receives from Radio Goldpdf print preview print preview

The Students Financial Aid Office (SFAO) has received an amount of GH¢4,800.00 (Four thousand, eight hundred Ghana cedis) from Radio Gold, an Accra-based radio station, to assist needy students of the University.

The presentation was made by the Radio Gold’s Human Resource Manager, Mr. Richard Agyepong who said that the money was a contribution from listeners of the station. He explained that over the years the station has been approached by students from tertiary institutions for financial support to enable them pay their fees. He said the donation was being made as part of Radio Gold’s corporate social responsibility, adding that this was realized through the generous support of the listeners.

Mr. Agyepong said that the Station would be extending the gesture to other tertiary institutions in the country. He was hopeful the station would sustain the gesture considering that listeners of Radio Gold were eager to support such a cause.

The Dean of Students, Dr. James Adomako who received the presentation said the donation was timely as the University has been grappling with additional sources of funds to assist needy students financially. He said the money would go a long way to boost students’ morale. He gave assurance that the beneficiaries will be those who really need financial support.

In a statement, the Head of the SFAO, Mrs. Christine Baning thanked Radio Gold for the kind donation which she said came as a surprise. She said the donation would go to support freshmen and women. Mrs. Baning appealed to the donors to in future, select individual beneficiaries and support them throughout their four-year programme in the University.

Other officials from Radio Gold who witnessed the presentation were the Finance Manager, Mr. Bright Andoh, Mr. Eric Boateng, and ‘Konkonsa’, who is an alumnus of the University and presenter of Radio Gold’s popular social and political critic programme, ‘Konkonsa’.
