| | University Of Ghana And Partners To Receive Danish Funding Under The Project "Building Stronger Universities In Developing Countries" | | | |
The University of Ghana is one of the four developing country universities that will partner with Danish Universities to receive funding to the tune of a 60 million DKK (11.5 million United States dollars, for the project “Building Stronger Universities (BSU) in Developing Countries”, funded by the Danish Government.
The BSU project is an initiative funded by the Danish government to strengthen universities in developing countries and Denmark through long-term partnerships between universities in developing countries and in Denmark. The expected outcome is that participating Universities will have strengthened research capacities resulting in strengthened research-based education and enhanced dissemination and management of research-based information and knowledge.
Other participating developing country universities are the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and two Universities in Tanzania (University of Dar es Salaam & Sokoine University of Agriculture).
University of Ghana was selected as a partner in three of the four platforms targeted (Human Health, Growth & Employment, Environment and Climate Change) to be implemented with a number of Danish Universities including the University of Copenhagen and Aarhus University.
In the first phase of the project, which covers the next two years, the Human Health and Growth & Employment Platforms will receive 20 million DKK each, and the Environment & Climate Platform will receive 8 million DKK.
Congratulations to Ag. Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Yaa Ntiamoa-Baidu for leading the team of UG faculty that were involved in the discussions with the Danish University partners and the development of the proposals.
