The University of Ghana has conferred the distinguished status of ‘Emerita Professor of Geography and Resource Development’ on Professor Elizabeth Ardayfio-Schandorf. With this, she becomes the first Ghanaian woman to be conferred with this distinguished title.

Since her retirement, Emerita Professor Ardayfio-Schandorf has continued to remain active in her department, supervising doctorate and masters students. Her scholarly achievement and her contribution to the University and society have been enormous over the 35 years of service, having once served as a Fulbright Scholar- in- Residence. The impact of her work has been felt both within and outside the University.

The status establishes a continuing link between the eminent Professor and the University of Ghana, a link that allows the University/the Department of Geography and Resource Development to continue to benefit from the academic work and experience of the Professor.
