The Egyptian Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Seif Allah Mostafa Nossier, recently paid a courtesy call on Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ernest Aryeetey.

The Ambassador said the purpose of the visit was to explore possible areas of collaboration with the University of Ghana, especially in the areas of staff and student exchange programmes. He mentioned that with the new-born democracy in Egypt, there was a lot his country could learn from Ghana and expressed the hope that the bilateral relationship would result in mutual collaboration to strengthen the existing good relationship between Ghana and Egypt.

The Vice-Chancellor who welcomed Ambassador Nossier, mentioned the continuous efforts he is making to share his vision with the University community. He added that the University was exploring ways to reduce the student population which currently stands at about 35,000 students. On research, the Vice-Chancellor said the University intends to expand its research capacity as well as increase graduate student intake. He therefore expressed enthusiasm about the idea of faculty and student exchanges between the University of Ghana and other institutions in Egypt.
