| | ICT Training for Law Library Staff |  | | | A three week ICT training programme has been organised for the Faculty of Law Library Staff, under the sponsorship of the Teaching and Learning Innovation Fund (TALIF). Eight staff took part in the training programme which was held at the Department of Information Studies.
In a speech delivered on behalf of the Ag. Dean of the Faculty of Law, Mr. K. K. K. Ampofo, Mr. Emmanuel Darkey, an Assistant Librarian at the Faculty of Law said the training was to equip library staff with knowledge on searching and packaging cases subject by subject on the computer, to enable easy access by users and staff.
The Head of the Department of Information Studies, Prof Harry Akussah, a resource person, encouraged staff of the University to continually upgrade themselves in other to be abreast of happenings in their profession. He noted that in going digital, users would be looking forward to receiving assistance from librarians who are computer-literate and competent enough to handle the job.
His sentiments were reiterated by the Acting University Librarian, Ms. Gifty Boakye who said that the library as a service industry is not static but dynamic, stressing the need for Librarians to change to suit the current needs of library users. She said, Information Technology serves as a tool to facilitate the work of librarians, adding that librarians must therefore be willing to use it in their work. She hoped that the librarians would be fully engrossed in the training programme so that the Faculty of Law would benefit from their training.
Mr. Darkey expressed appreciation, on behalf of the Ag. Dean of the Faculty of Law , to the School of Graduate Studies, the managers at TALIF, the Procurement Office, the Ag.
