These sentiments were reiterated by Mrs Pearl Esinam Carberry, Assistant CEO who added that the company had taken into consideration the harsh weather conditions and would use the appropriate technique to ensure the durability of the court.
Earlier, in her introductory remarks, the Ag. Director of Public Affairs, Mrs. Stella A. Amoa said that sports had gained prominence at the University leading now to the integration of sports into the academic programme of the University. She noted that when fully rolled out, this will enable students earn credit for sports and sports-related courses, which will count towards their total credits earned. The multi-purpose court, she added, while enhancing sports facilities in the university would also engender interest for ball games from members of the university community, especially students. She expressed the University’s appreciation to Anglogold Ashanti, and the National Sports Council for spearheading the construction of the facility.

The multi-purpose court which is being constructed at the Sports Complex is about 200 meters away from the University stadium. It will comprise of a handball court with in-built dimensions for basketball, tennis and volleyball.
