The family of the late Dr. Jean Nelson Aka, an alumnus of the University, has set up a scholarship scheme to support brilliant but needy students admitted to the University of Ghana Business School. The initial amount is to be invested by the University, and the proceeds disbursed to qualified students.
Mrs. Rose Aka, widow of the late Mr. Aka, recently presenteda chequefor the initial amountto Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ernest Aryeetey. She noted that thedonation was in fulfillment of a pledge made by the family during the inauguration of the Jean Nelson Aka Hall last year.She said the amount will be topped up annually.
Professor Aryeetey who received the donation on behalf of the University, thanked Mrs. Rose Aka for supporting the School and for immortalizing her late husband through the institution of the scholarship scheme. He promised that the donation will be used for the purpose forwhich it was given.
Mrs. Rose Aka was accompanied by Professor Ivan Addae-Mensah, former Vice-Chancellor of the University, and her son, Jean-Pierre Aka.
