International Programmes Office
The International Programmes Office welcomes you to the University of Ghana, the premier university in Ghana and one of the most prestigious universities in Africa. Our university is well-recognized as a centre of excellence all over the world. The University was established more than 50 years ago and has trained more than 40,000 graduates who are at the helm of affairs in Ghana and many parts of the world. Currently, the student population is about 30,000 with of over 1,000 international students every year.
You will discover that our people are incredibly warm and our University will offer you a lot in the way of learning opportunities both inside and outside the classroom. Over the years, our international students have come to love our institution and unique country and have made it their second home.

Services and Staff
The International Programmes office was established to promote and coordinate all the University’s external relations, including International Students, Visiting Scholars, Fulbright Scholars, staff on exchange, external staff training programmes and research collaboration. The Office of International Programmes offers a variety of services to international students and scholars.
It also:
processes international special admission student applications for admission
(regular and occasional students apply through the University),
coordinates their accommodation in University of Ghana residential facilities,
makes arrangements for student cards,
and arranges adequate guidance and counseling facilities for international students.
Institutional Summer Programme for the University of Ghana on Drawing Board!!!
The Office of the Dean, International Programmes is working on a proposal for the University of Ghana to offer unique courses from summer 2009 to international partners and individuals. There will be modules in African Studies, Public Health, Performing Arts (Dance, Music, Theatre Arts), Archaeology, History, Oceanography and Fisheries, Social Studies, Communication Studies, Social Work, Sociology, Political Science, etc - with experiential learning components! Please keep an eye out for the programme!!!.
All international students must report to the Office of International Programmes upon their arrival to be processed through registration formalities.
The Office recognizes that international students add to the cultural enrichment of the social, as well as academic, setting of the Legon campus. Therefore, it is dedicated to fostering global understanding and goodwill and assisting all international students to reap the maximum benefit from their stay in Ghana.
