The Commonwealth Youth Programme – Diploma in Youth Development Work

The Institute is one of 24 tertiary institutions in the Commonwealth running the Diploma in Youth and Development Work programme to students at a distance. The programme at the Institute started in August 2001 and has since admitted five batches of students. Currently, there are 260 students enrolled on the programme.

HIV/AIDS Counselling and Care-giving Programme

This is a follow up programme to the Mass Media Support for Adult Population Education programme promoted by the Institute in the 1990s. The Counselling and Care-giving Programme is a four month course delivered through the distance mode. Since its inception in October 2003, over 2000 people have participated in the programme. The programme is being run with the support of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

Reducing HIV Stigma by Education

The HIV Stigma Reduction Course is a six year project being supported by the Canadian International Development Association (CIDA) through the Association of Universities and Colleges in Canada. This programme which is also print-based is being run in partnership with Simon Fraser University in Canada, the University of Cape Coast, Cape Coast and University of Education, Winneba.
