Brief History

Department of Health Policy, Planning and Management (HPPM) is one of the seven Departments of the School of Public Health (SPH), College of Health Sciences, University of Ghana.The Department is relatively young with specialties centered on:

  • Health System Development
  • Health Policy Analysis
  • Health Economics.
  • HPPM is made up of four Units namely,
  • Health Systems Development;
  • Health Policy and Advocacy;
  • Health Planning and Management
  • Health Economics.

Short courses

The Department in collaboration with the Department of Epidemiology and Disease Control (EPID) runs the following competency based short courses:

  • Improving Public Health Intervention in Management (4- week course).
  • Epidemiology and Health Systems Management for District Health Managers (3 months for Sierra Leoneans)
  • Workshop on Monitoring & Ealuation of Malaria Programs (with support from National Malaria Control Program, MEASURE ICF Macro and USAID)
