The School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences has the pleasure of inviting the University community to participate in a Public Engagement on the Sixth Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Assessment Report (AR6), to be held on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at 11:00 a.m.

The programme will take place in-person in the auditorium of the Centre for African Wetlands, University of Ghana for a selected number of officials due to COVID-19 restrictions, and virtually via Zoom and on the University's social media platforms for the general public.

IPCC, the United Nations body for assessing the science related to climate change, released its Sixth Assessment Report in August 2021.

Dr. Nana Ama Browne Klutse, a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Physics of the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, is one of the few young African climate scientists among the 200 lead authors selected worldwide to assess the Physical Science Basis.

The School will hold the Public Engagement to draw attention to the implications of the Sixth Assessment Report, particularly to our local situation. The programme will consider highlights of the report including policy aspects from the perspective of the Government and other stakeholders and discuss research and funding opportunities as well as challenges to fighting climate change.

Dr. Klutse will deliver a short lecture on the implications of the 6th Assessment Report after which there will be a panel discussion. As part of the programme, there will also be short messages from representatives of invited institutions.
