Installation of Professor Horace Campbell as Third Occupant of Kwame Nkrumah Chair in African Studies

In 2009, the University of Ghana, in collaboration with AngloGold Ashanti Limited, established a Kwame Nkrumah Chair in African Studies to be held at the Institute of African Studies. The overarching role of this chair is to honour Dr. Kwame Nkrumah for his significant intellectual contributions and for his vision and commitment to the liberation and development of Africans on the continent and in the Diaspora; and to promote research, teaching and the public promotion of Africana Studies.

The Chair has had two distinguished occupants namely Professor Kofi Anyidoho and Professor Jacob U. Gordon, who were installed in February 2011, and in February, 2013 respectively.

We are pleased to inform you that the third occupant of the Kwame Nkrumah Chair in African Studies, Prof Horace Campbell, will be officially installed by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ebenezer Oduro Owusu, at a ceremony scheduled to take place as follows:

After the installation, Professor Campbell will deliver an inaugural lecture on the topic: “Reconstruction, Transformation and the Unification of the Peoples of Africa in the 21st Century: Rekindling the Pan African Spirit of Kwame Nkrumah.”
