The Department of Plant and Environmental Biology under the School of Biological Sciences, University of Ghana invites applications from suited qualified persons for the following positions full-time:

 

1. LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER IN PLANT ANATOMY

   The candidate must:

  1. Have a BSc. in Plant Science or related disciplines and a PhD in Plant Anatomy with expertise in Classical Anatomical Studies
  2. Exhibit the capacity to work in a team and promote the development of Plant Anatomy programme, grantsmanship and state-of-the-art research.
  3. Should be able to teach other Basic Plant Science Courses
  4. Should not exceed the age of 45 years by August 2022

2. LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER IN PLANT GENETICS

  1. Have a BSc. in Plant Science or related disciplines and a PhD in Plant Genetics with expertise in Classical Genetics
  2. Exhibit the capacity to work in a team and promote the development of Plant Anatomy programme, grantsmanship and state-of-the-art research.
  3. Should be able to teach other Basic Plant Science Courses
  4. Should not exceed the age of 45 years by August 2022

3. LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER IN PHYCOLOGY

  1. Have a BSc. in Plant Science or related disciplines preferably Aquatic Biology/Botany and a PhD in Plant Biology with expertise in algae (Phycology)
  2. Exhibit the capacity to work in a team and promote the development of Plant Tissue Culture programme, grantsmanship and state-of-the-art research
  3. Should be in a position to teach other Basic Plant Science Courses
  4. Should not exceed the age of 45 years by August 2022

 

4. LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER IN PLANT PHYSIOLOGY

  1. Have a BSc. in Plant Science or related disciplines and a PhD in Plant Physiology with expertise in Tissue Culture and/or Classical Plant Physiology
  2. Exhibit the capacity to work in a team and promote the development of Plant Tissue Culture programme, grantsmanship and state-of-the-art research
  3. Should be in a position to teach other Basic Plant Science Courses
  4. Should not exceed the age of 45 years by August 2022

5. LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER IN PLANT TAXONOMY

  1. Have a BSc. in Plant Science or related disciplines and a PhD in Plant Systematics with expertise in Classical and Molecular Systematics
  2. Exhibit the capacity to work in a team and promote the development of Plant Systematic programme, grantsmanship and state-of-the-art research
  3. Should be in a position to teach other Basic Plant Science Courses
  4. Should not exceed the age of 45 years by August 2022

 

NOTE: For the position of a Senior Lecturer,

  1. the candidate must have at least 5 years of relevant experience and should have published at least ten (10) papers in high impact journals (SCOPUS indexed journals are highly recommended)
  2. possess the capacity to establish and lead a global impact research to attract grants for the department
