PROFILE

Full Professor of Geology at the Department of Earth Science, University Ghana. 30+ years’ experience spanning industry and academia with broad-base experience in geology, with petrology, field geology, mineral exploration, and applied geochemistry being key specialization areas. Current research efforts are on the Precambrian Geology and Metallogeny of the Pan African Belt and the Birimian of West Africa. Joined the University of Ghana as a Lecturer in March 2000, Senior Lecturer in February 2009, Associate Professor in April 2012 and Professor in February 2016. Was the Head of the Department of Earth Science, University of Ghana (June 2011-July 2016). Worked prior at the Ghana’s Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) as Assistant Research Officer (1993-1996), and with large International Mining and Mineral Exploration Companies, and Small and Private Mineral Exploration Tenements that include precious minerals, industrial minerals and rocks (1996-2000). General research interests are in geochemical exploration of precious, industrial and strategic minerals and rocks, mine spoils and rock-water interactions. Has over 100 publications in the field of geosciences, including Journal Articles, Technical Reports, Competent Person & Expert Reports, Conference Papers, and Abstracts. Serves as a Consulting Geoscientist since 1998 in different capacities to the private and public sectors in different operations, in applied research and development and as “Competent Person” in mineral exploration projects. Served as Expert Witness and Expert Reviewer for the Government of The Republic of Ghana in mineral arbitration cases (2013-2016).  Fellow of the Ghana Institution of Geoscientists, Fellow of the Society of Economic Geologists. Member of European Association of Geochemistry, Member of Australian Institute of Geoscientists, Life Member/Council Member/Membership Secretary of the Geological Society of Africa. Member of the African Minerals and Energy Resources Classification and Management System (AMREC) working group and co-author of the Pan African Resource Reporting Code (PARC) 2023.
