DAVID E. A. QUAYE
David E. A. Quaye holds M.F.A, BFA and Diploma (Theatre Arts dance) degrees from University of Ghana. He began his teaching career at the Institute of African Studies of University of Ghana where he taught African Studies (AFST) dance, both theory and practical from 2002 to 2004. He became a Teaching Assistant in the Department of Dance Studies in 2006 and appointed an Assistant Lecturer in 2007. Courses taught include Dance Composition, Dance Technique, Indigenous African Dance, Lighting Design for Dance, Stage Craft, Music for Dance and Dance Cultures of the World. David has undertaken several projects, choreographies and performances both locally and internationally. He has also organized and participated in workshops in U.S.A., Germany and South Africa. He has also trained dance teachers and practitioners on how to trained students for various dance events and productions. He has been part of major choreographies projects in Ghana including the opening and closing ceremony of both CAN 2008 soccer and the hockey tournament in 2009. He is a team player and loves to collaborate to achieve goals. Currently pursuing an Ph.D. program in African Studies at the University of Ghana, Legon. His research area is on Dance Pedagogy at the tertiary level in Ghana, with special interest in indigenous African dance performance.
