Graduate Programmes

The department runs Graduate Programmes in MSc/MPhil in Computer Science and PhD in Computer Science. The MSc Computer Science covers material at an advance level in both theoretical and practical aspects in computing. Students will also be given an in-depth introduction to the elements of research practice. The MPhil Computer Science combines lectures, seminars and project work in various combinations tailored to the individual student's need. Students will have an opportunity to specialise via the implementation of a large project or research thesis. They will both also acquire new knowledge and skills through our taught courses which will prepare them to work at the cutting edge of industry.


Programme Structure and Design

The MSc in Computer Science is a 12 month course consisting of two semesters and a dissertation. The dissertation is started upon the successful completion of the two semesters and is from June to August. The course work for the MSc programme consist of 3 core courses in the first semester of year 1 and a seminar as well as 1 or 2 elective courses. The second semester of year 1 is similarly structured, 3 core courses, a seminar and 1 or 2 elective courses. The MPhil in Computer Science is a 24 months course. The first year will be a taught course and the final year will be the implementation of research thesis.
