BSTT 613: Research Methods in H ealth Informatics

This course provides the student the opportunity to develop competencies in the conceptualization, design, analysis, communication and evaluation of health informatics research studies. It exposes the student to theoretical approaches to and practical applications of research. An introduction to empirical methods, including qualitative and quantitative methods, the design of surveys and experiments and analysis of the resulting data, sampling, questionnaire design, data collection and data processing. The course also discusses ethical issues involved in medical research, such as patient consent and confidentiality
