Mandate

 

Our mandate covers the following activities and functions:

ADVISE ON ACADEMIC STANDARDS
We offer advice to the university’s Academic Curriculum, Quality and Staff Development Committee (ACQSDC) on the determination and maintenance of acceptable levels of academic standards with respect to teaching, learning and research
STUDENTS’ EVALUATION OF COURSES/LECTURERS
The AQAU in collaboration with the relevant UG units conducts student evaluation of courses and teaching staff every semester
DEPARTMENTAL REVIEWS/ACCREDITATION AUDITS
We conduct departmental reviews and accreditation audits at least every five years, to be preceded by self-assessment exercises and quality audits
STUDENT EXPERIENCE

We execute on a regular basis, audits, reviews and surveys covering student life experiences: fresh student orientation, course registration, course advisory, graduation, academic records accessibility, accommodation, health facility and library, as well as the lived experiences of students with special needs, among others

FACILITATING QUALITY AUDITS & STAFF DEVELOPMENT
We facilitate and oversee the preparation of quality audits, self-studies, quality assurance reviews, surveys, staff training and development initiatives
OVERSIGHT OF AFFILIATES

We initiate and standardize audits, reviews and monitoring activities in Institutions which award University of Ghana degrees

GRADUATE TRACER SURVEYS
We organise annual exit surveys of graduating classes and periodically undertake tracer and employer surveys

INFORMATION DISSEMINATION ON ACADEMIC QUALITY
We disseminate on a regular basis, matters related to quality enhancement to the wider UG community and beyond
PERFORMING ANY OTHER FUNCTIONS
The AQAU also performs any other functions relating to quality assurance as may be referred to it by the University Council or the Academic Board.
